National criminal searches pull from thousands of databases across the United States. When a match is found in these registers, it represents a pointer record—an indication that a criminal file may exist.
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), background check companies cannot report database pointer matches as verified facts without confirming them at the local county courthouse. Surfacing unverified database matches violates federal compliance guidelines.
To maintain compliance and protect your properties, CHCKED automatically verifys pointer matches directly with the county court clerk. The fees charged by these local jurisdictions are passed through to you at cost.
